I am hearing the Lord say that even though His people have cried out for reformation they have been slow to allow for culture change in their lives and in the church. When reformation takes place culture must change. True reformation transforms everything around it. You have cried out for reformation but you have been content with “church as usual”. You want reformation as long as there is no obligation for it to change your personal life or your family.

God says this coming wind, the ones the intercessors have contended for, will be a wind of utter transformation. You will not see church the same way as you have before. God is about to put you in circumstances that will work in your life as a crucible, destroying some even long held religious beliefs to rebuild you to be a person that can cooperate with the current move of God.

Get ready for complete devastation to your existing religious systems, I hear God saying He wants you, not your religion. When He has all of you He can make you Christ-like, He is reforming the church as He is reforming individuals in the church.

There is a purifying coming to Gods church and His people. It will burn off the dross of old, unscriptural, inaccurate beliefs and theology that have actually crippled the church and kept it from advancement. Watch the denominations. I hear God saying to watch the denominations. In the next few years they will be challenged like they never have before. They will begin to work together. They will see the value in each other. Denominations will be challenged, but it will not be the organization but the believers in the denomination that rise to the challenge.

The Lord is saying I have been looking for harmony in the church. Different instruments and parts being played but they all play together and sound marvelous. This sound is coming out of the church that God is now reforming.

You have said you want revival, but some have failed to allow the Spirit of God to revive you individually. You have said you want to see reformation, but some have been stiff necked when God tried to melt your pride. Those who allow the Spirit to do His perfect work and those who have become humble will be trend setters in the church today.

God says get ready for the face of the church to change. He is maturing her, He is equipping her, and she will begin to be a mighty force on the earth today. The church will rise up, but it must have a culture change, God is going to deal with a culture of mistrust, back-biting, carelessness, white-washing, and He is going to begin to deal with the hearts of leaders. Leaders will begin to repent of church as usual and God will accelerate His work in their lives. They will begin to build the church once again and no longer just seek to sustain an ungodly culture. The Spirit of God will accomplish this.

This morning as I was praying and thinking about what you’re going through, the Lord showed me a vision.

I saw that you are trying to move forward, but you’re getting so much pushback that, it’s very difficult for you to get up in the morning and move forward. And this is what the Lord showed me, the enemy is trying to make you feel like you are in a season of regression, rather than progression. And you feel like you want to advance, you want to advance the kingdom, you want your life to advance, but you feel like you are taking steps backward.

And the Lord just says to you, because you are under such a warfare, you cannot trust your emotions. Because the Lord says, “There are many advances you’re actually making as you worship me, as you’re seeking my face,” the Lord says you’re actually making advances but you cannot see where you are going because you’re under such intense warfare.

Now, I want to say to you right now, the only way I could explain it is, the heavens are violent. As we look at many nations around the world, there’s a lot of upheaval. Think about Korea, and what’s happening in the Koreas. Think about the people within the range of Kim Jong-un, that’s many nations. Think about what’s happening in the Middle East, with such persecution of believers. And then in the United States, upheaval, upheaval, upheaval.

But the Lord just says “You are not subject to that upheaval, and I will cause you to go into a season of advancement if you resist the thought Satan is putting in your head that you’re actually in regression,” the Lord says, “The kingdom of God is ever increasing. So, the only way you can fail is to believe the lie, and to be subject to the pressure that Satan is putting you under.”

You are not called to be subject to that pressure. You are not called to be one who sits down and says, “Well, I might as well just give up.” You are called to overcome. You are called to advance. You are called to be triumphant.

And so the Lord says this is the day to rise up, this is not a day to sit down and give in to the violent pushing that the kingdom of darkness is doing and working against you, then you will be defeated. But the Lord says, “If you would choose my nature and my character and my ability, you will surely break through.”

Luke 3:2 While Annas and Caiaphas were high priests,[a] the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying:

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight
And the rough ways smooth;
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’

The Greek word for “prepare” in the above passage is Hetoimazo: and it means to prepare, provide or make ready! John’s preaching had a strong element of getting people ready for the coming of the Messiah.

My concern as I look at the church today is that our understanding of what “get ready” means is not what it used to be. When the announcer for the fight exclaims: “GET READY TO RUMBLE!”,  to the crowd at the fight it means to grab another drink, get popcorn etc. But to the fighters “get ready” means so much more.

To the fighters “get ready” means years of training, lifting weights and cardio. It means drinking strange health drinks and eating a strict diet. So much goes into the battle that is about to take place. The call to get ready is much different for the combatants than it is for the spectators.

When John was calling all of Israel to “get ready”, that call involved baptism, representative of death and resurrection. In other words John’s call was not for the people of Israel to become spectators to the ministry of Jesus, it was calling for an utter reconstruction of who they were, a dying to the old and coming alive to something new.

It applies today. You need to get ready for what God is about to do in your life. Please don’t get ready as a spectator, and don’t be a spectator, get active in this battle that the Lord has already won. Do something different today to prepare for what God has planned for your life.

God I pray you would ready your people for the great move of God you want to bring about in their life and in the world today. Let us know be spectators in the Kingdom but active participants, in Jesus name, ~Amen.

Psalm 91 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler[a]
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

In the wake of what recently occurred in Manchester England, I think it’s important that we talk about terror. Terror is extreme fear, and those who would use terror against others are known as terrorists, this is something we all know, but few of us know how to respond in terrifying situations.

There is an old saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Scripture is clear, God does not want you to be afraid, of anything, or anyone for that matter, but rather than seek a cure for terror and fear, wouldn’t it be better if God gave us a preventative measure?

Thankfully He does. The Bible says in Ps 91 that the prevention to terror is to dwell in the secret place and therefore under the shadow of the Almighty. In other words God’s presence (aka perfect love) removes all fear from our life. Now this is a process, but as we live each day in the presence of God and His love fear is overcome.

When I was in the 4th grade there were two 6th graders that bullied me daily. I walked to school oftentimes fearful that I would have to face these two miniature terrorists.  One day as a young man I was praying, and the Lord spoke to my heart and brought up that season of my life. He said to me “What if your Dad had been with you, walking you to school everyday?” Now my Dad is not a big man, but he certainly towers over 6th grade ruffians, and I  know he would have struck enough fear in their hearts to keep them at bay.

God was giving me an example of Ps 91, when we are in God’s presence, there is no need to fear. The Lion of Judah will strike fear in the heart of even the most terrifying of enemies.

So as we are reminded that terror is alive and well in our time, lets remember that God’s presence is our protection, and we can find refuge und His wings. It is my prayer that all of America returns to God again, that as a nation we can know this wonderful protective power.

Father you protect me, my spouse, and my children each and every day. I thank you for your ever-presence, and for removing fear from my life. Let us walk every day in the boldness that comes from knowing we are protected by the unmatched power of the Almighty! In Jesus Name ~Amen

Proverbs 13:12New King James Version (NKJV)

12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

Have you been to that point where you are just about to give up on your dreams? I think we have all been to that place where the hope we once had for something seems to be waning and is almost gone. It seems that at those points, often times, God will send a prophetic word to us to ignite the flame of hope once again.

When He does that be reassured, this is in God’s plan for your life. I believe that there are no “waiting rooms” or  “holding patterns” for the people of God. God has a purpose for your life, and if it doesn’t seem like your walking in it right now, that doesn’t give you license to just wait around in some cosmic waiting room, no, God has you in a season of preparation.

If you are waiting and hoping you should also be preparing. If God does not have you operating fully in the calling of God on your life, you need to ask yourself how can I be equipped to become the version of myself that God needs me to be to fulfill this call. He is requiring something of you. You must prepare and get ready.

getting ready can involve:

  1. Taking a class or going to Bible School.
  2. Intensifying your prayer life and fasting.
  3. Following and learning from a spiritual father or mother in this ministry.
  4. Dying to selfish motives.

It is important to note that God operates on a very specific time table. He may have you in this preparation phase because you need to be introduced to this world in a “such a time as this moment.” Jesus came to earth and operated in a very specific timing (Galatians 4:4). Listen, how encouraging is it to realize that your gifts and callings are so valuable to the people of God that He wants to introduce it to the Kingdom at the most strategic time. It’s time to get ready!

God we are listening for your voice. We dare not move ahead of you of fall behind. Make or calling clear, and let us run in the things of God. In Jesus name ~Amen.

Proverbs 17:17 New King James Version (NKJV)

17 A friend loves at all times,
And a brother is born for adversity.

If you have not read a post of mine yet where I proudly state I have five sons, here is your notification. I love my five son’s. They have moments of incredible brilliance, kindness and strength. However, they are kids, so they can be a very frustrating crew at times as well. In case you have not had opportunity to spend time with a group of boys let me make you aware of something. They like to fight. Whether they know what they are doing or not they jockey for position, brag, and compete with one another every chance they get. Though on certain days this feels to me like a high level attack of the Devil, ultimately it is just boys being boys.

Yes they will grow. They will learn to put others before themselves. Sometimes there is such evidence of this it makes a fathers heart proud.

Many of you know, however, that this is not always the case in the church today. Sometimes men of God act just like my sons on their worst day. Unfortunately the church is still full of brothers who are competitive,  wrestle for position, and step on others to find their own promotion in the things of God.

A friend loves at all times, but a brothers relationship should reflect something even closer, a brother will be their to battle along side you, to fiercely defend you, and to cry real tears when you are crying. A brother is meant to be with you in times of adversity, holding you up if need be. I have brothers like this. I would love to name them all but this blog post would go on forever if I did. You know a brother is legit when he will take a blow meant for you, when he refuses to let others speak negatively about you, and when your fight is always his fight. That’s a brother.

Lets build a new culture in the church. Lets see to it that a new culture is created in our apostolic/prophetic communities. Let’s drop competition, back biting and in-fighting. I have seen times where a new prophetic minister came into a church and all the current prophetic ministries became nervous, as though they would lose “their place.” The danger is when feelings like this turn into actions, and people begin to stir up suspicion about another so they can protect their territory. How ungodly can we be.

It’s time to build again. We are brothers and sisters, meant to be there one for another in times of adversity. Meant to weep with those that weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. Let this change happen in your own heart today.

Father, thank you for my brothers. Thank you for people who have stood with me through thick and thin. Thank you for a love that is stronger than anything the world will know. In Jesus name ~ Amen.

I recently heard a podcast that accused a well-known prophetess of being false because of a word she gave to another minister. I took opportunity to listen to the word, and to all of my spiritual senses it seemed good, the kind of thing I wouldn’t mind hearing over my own life. The reason that the individuals on the podcast accused the prophetess of being false is that not long after giving the word this well known minister fell from grace. The group speaking even cited Old Testament passages about what should be done with “false prophets”.

With this view in some church cultures it doesn’t surprise me that many people avoid moving in prophetic things at all costs. If my friends talked like this 20 years ago I may not be pursuing prophetic things today. One thing we must remember about this judgmental group however is that they are entirely wrong. This woman is not a false prophet, and in fact I think the chances of her word eventually coming to pass are greater than not, but our view of what constitutes a New Testament false prophet has got to change.

Matthew 7:15 says “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

Take note of the fact that Jesus does not say once that you will know a false prophet by their words. No He makes it very clear when a false prophet is identified it will be their actions, or their fruit that catches them. There is room for growth in the modern day prophetic ministry. Don’t let a fear of mistakes cause you to stop from speaking what God places on your heart. The real question to ask when reviewing if someone is a true or false prophet is what fruit are they bearing? Are people built up and made more Christ-like because of their ministry, or do these prophets just pressure people for money and cause confusion and division in the church?

These are the types of questions church leadership needs to begin to ask when discerning the false from the true. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says “Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.” Let’s look at this verse. There is no indication that the two or three prophets are false. In fact I think there may be an implication that they are legitimate because they are freely allowed to prophesy in the church. The others in the listening vicinity are to judge what’s being spoken, not whether the prophet is false or authentic. So why would the others have to judge or weigh what is being said if there is no potential for error?

Let’s put it this way. We are all human vessels. We are men and women. God speaks and what He says is perfect, however our interpretation of what is being said is never as perfect. I can’t even fully interpret what my wife really means half the time, I don’t expect interpreting a word from God to be much easier. We all have our filters, and we must learn to quiet them to hear what God is really saying. Let’s say there is an unseasoned prophetic minister who gets a picture of a lion. It’s a powerful picture of a protective, majestic lion, but he can’t see it that way because at a young age he was frightened by a lion at the zoo. Until inner healing has taken place, when this person sees the lion it is going to signify a warning to them. In his mind Lion=Fear.

What if, however, the message that God is really trying to get across through this vision is that “God will protect you and your territory, like a Lion protects his pride.” It may take a while until the individual can see it another way. If after seeing this picture he blabbers out “A big mean lion is coming, run for cover…” This does not make him a false prophet, it makes him a wounded one. He just needs to be able to see another facet of the presence of God. The same God that comforts us under his wing strikes fear in the enemies of our souls as a lion. Let’s not stone this prophet, he heard and saw perfectly, he just interpreted poorly.

Lord we all want to hear your voice more clearly. Refine us, purify us, heal the pain of our past so we can discern the good in your voice and not hear through our own filters. Let us grow each day in relationship with you. ~Amen

Satan only needs to do one thing to defeat you in any area, and he has been very successful at it since the beginning of time. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:4 “whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

He only has to blind you to something, if he can affect your spiritual sight, he can hinder your development in multiple ways.

I remember they used to call the television the “devils eye”. As media has progressed there are a number of us feeling like there is more truth to that than one may think. The news is so skewed by the agenda of the dark one that many of us find it hard to readily accept as truth anything we see any longer, no matter the channel. Even now the media has issued an all out attack against the president, and if all you see is certain media, you are truly getting a lopsided report.

Seeing accurately is everything. Jesus said it takes an entirely reconstructive personal experience to see the Kingdom of God (John 3;3). It is not obvious to everyone, Satan has blinded peoples minds.

Many years ago I saw in a vision a picture of Jesus. He was as tall as a New York skyscraper and standing right in the middle of the city I was living in. I thought to myself, “Why can’t everyone see Him?” Then God brought this 2 Corinthians 4:4 to mind. They couldn’t see Him because they were blinded by a dark force that affects schools, media, businesses, some churches,  as well as the rest of this world.

We pray a lot of things for the lost, I am going to start to pray for divine sight. That God would touch the eyes of peoples hearts and cause them to see the giant Christ on Main Street that beckons them, and that they will see that they are being deceived by every other voice wrestling for there attention.

Lord let all people see You, and Your will for their life. Let us close our ears to the lies coming across media every day, trying to convince us that evil is good and good is evil. Let the true Kingdom be seen by all, in Jesus name, Amen.

If you have ever awakened from a full night’s sleep feeling tired because it felt like you were in a war all night, you probably were! Did you know that there is no day or night in the spirit world? It may be surprising, but our spirit is always awake, even when our body is asleep.

I think of some dreams, which I call “reality dreams,” as memories of an experience we had as we slept. They are real experiences that our spirit has with the spirit world while our soul is sleeping. A great example of this is Joseph’s famous dream found in Matthew 2:13-14. Another type of God dream is what I call “virtual reality dreams.” This kind of dream is actually a vision of the mind that we have while we sleep and remember when we wake up. Virtual reality dreams, or visions of the night, are to your spirit what movies are to your natural man. Nebuchadnezzar had one of these kinds of dreams in Daniel 2:31-36. We know it was this type of dream because it was symbolic and needed an interpretation.

A friend of ours told us how his son’s marriage was restored by a dream! His son and daughter-in-law were in a year-long, ugly custody battle over their only son. Their marriage was over and although the husband had had a change of heart and wanted to reconcile with his wife, she remained hurt, angry, and bitter. She refused any counsel. She broke all ties with the family and would have nothing to do with any of them.

The night before they were to go to divorce court, his daughter-in-law had a dream. In it she saw herself standing at the edge of a beautiful meadow. Her husband was standing in the middle of the field, and suddenly Jesus appeared in the field. He looked over at her, smiled, and then walked through the meadow to her husband and gave him a hug. The scene changed. Her father-in-law was now standing in the center of the field and again the Lord appeared. He looked over at her a second time and smiled while He embraced her father-in-law. In the next scene, she saw herself standing in the field of flowers. Jesus appeared off in the distance walking through the meadow towards her. Just as the Lord reached out to embrace her, she woke up. She knew the Lord was giving her the grace she needed to restore her relationship with her husband. She got out of bed at five o’clock in the morning and called her husband. They reconciled that very day and lived happily ever after!

Dreams are an amazing way to hear God. There are some important things to remember about dreams, and here are four basic truths that I think are important for any believer who wants to grow in their dream life:

1. Not all dreams are from God. We can hear from four sources in the spirit realm—our spirit, the Holy Spirit, angels and evil spirits—and this is true even in our dreams. Not all dreams are from God.

2. It does not necessarily mean we are prophetic just because we have dreams. Remember, even wicked people in the Old Testament had dreams. Interpreting dreams is what makes us prophetic.

3. Colors, numbers, and other symbolic occurrences in dreams are very important to the interpretation of the dream. But even as we learn to recognize consistencies in this symbolic language, we need to remember that ultimately the interpretation of dreams belongs to the Lord.

4. If we want to have more dreams, we need to become good stewards of revelations we receive. It is a great idea to put a notebook or recorder by your bed before you go to sleep. Pray and tell the Lord, “Your servant is listening.” As soon as you have a dream, write it down or record all of the details you can remember, including the way you felt about the dream while you were having it. To have more dreams, become good stewards of the revelations received.

There is much to know about the mysterious world of dreams. Job gives us some insight into the nature of dreams and their purposes:

“Indeed God speaks once, or twice, yet no one notices it. In a dream, a vision of the night, when sound sleep falls on men, while they slumber in their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, that He may turn man aside from his conduct, and keep man from pride; He keeps back his soul from the pit, and his life from passing over into Sheol” (Job 33:14-18).

Job says that the dreams of God often go unnoticed. And he reinforces the fact that virtual reality dreams are visions of the night. He goes on to explain that many times God uses dreams to change our attitude. If our soul is resisting the Lord, He waits until we are unconscious and then changes our heart through visions of the night. He even says that these midnight encounters can keep us from hell! If dreams are that powerful, then I want to propose to you that a dream can impact your destiny, turn your heart towards God, bring clarity to a situation and even bring insight to problems in your life that seem hopeless. If that’s the case, then let’s be a people who notice the dreams God gives us and stewards them well!

There is so much more to know about dreams and visions. John Paul Jackson, James and Michal Ann Goll, and Cindy Jacobs have all written amazing books on the subject with deep insights into this language of God. I highly recommend their books.

Are you a dreamer? What are you doing to steward your dreams well? I’d love to hear about your process in the comments!
